On October 7th, 2023, Keith and Aviva Siegel—beloved members of Drew’s extended family—were taken from their home in Israel and held hostage in Gaza. Thankfully, Aviva was released after 51 days and Keith was released after 484 days in captivity, but the effort to get them out was months of sustained advocacy by Siegel family members and others. Since then, Drew’s cousin Hanna Siegel, who was closely involved in the hostage negotiations for Keith and Aviva, joined the board of the James W. Foley Legacy Foundation, which works to bring American hostages home and support families navigating the unimaginable.
